Longing

He sits on the patio, in evening’s cool air,
A solitary melody drifts through the air,
The radio playing its lonesome tune,
A poem in his heart, watching the moon.

He yearns to talk, to hear her voice,
Technology fades, not by choice,
Within the canyon’s walls, no signal found,
He must wait patiently, on familiar ground.

For her spirit, her soul, this trip is bliss,
Reconnecting with friends, dearly missed,
Sharing memories, emotions descend,
Saying farewell to a beloved family friend.

Goodbye is heavy to the childhood home,
It’s always in her heart, no matter where she may roam,
A promise held tight, to return one day,
With her own family, they’ll make their way.

So, back on the patio, he sits and he waits,
Longing for his loves embrace.
The radio plays on, their bond remains true,
A symphony of love, strong and imbued.
