Waiting for the Rain

On the horizon the clouds begin to creep
Like lumbering giants waking from their sleep
The breeze brings the familiar scent
A sign of the tempest soon to descend
I am waiting for the rain

It begins with its gentle mist
My skin accepting of its sweet kiss
Then suddenly excitement grows
As the rain falls in heavy throes
I am standing in the rain

Lightning followed by the thunder’s roar
It awakens me within my core
My body moves the rain its guide
Its orchestra eases my troubled mind
I am dancing with the rain

Lightning is now blinding and frightening
The storm becomes unrelenting
Cold wet and soaked with no end in sight
My soul is losing in this blight
I am aching for the sun
